With a background in social work and activism, Gupta has spent the past several years working on issues affecting young people and communities. ASAP was launched in May 2025 by AAP National Convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Education Minister Shri Manish Sisodia and Delhi State President Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj. The organisation was established to strengthen AAP’s engagement with Gen Z and the student community, with a focus on education reforms, improving India’s education system and raising issues concerning students across the country.

Speaking about the appointment, Gupta said that young people must not merely be treated as voters or campaigners but must have a meaningful role in shaping political decisions and public policy.

“India’s youth are not just the future of this country; we are its present. Students deserve an education system that gives them opportunities, dignity and the freedom to question and participate. I look forward to working with students across Delhi and strengthening their voice within the political process.”

The appointment is expected to further strengthen ASAP’s outreach among students and young people across Delhi and contribute to its efforts to build a stronger platform for student participation, education reform and youth leadership.
