Netflix has a pretty big collection of horror movies, but let us be honest, not all of them are actually scary or even good. So I watched a whole bunch of them and made this list of the best horror movies on Netflix right now. If you are looking to get scared or just want to watch something spooky tonight, this list might help.

Young woman looks serious with ghostly figure behind her. Background is dark and glitchy, creating a tense, mysterious mood.
Best Horror Movies on Netflix

Finding a good horror movie on Netflix is not easy. There are so many titles there, but most of them are not really scary or they just feel the same. I ended up watching a whole lot of them, some good and some not so much. So I thought why not make a list of the ones that are actually worth your time? This list has all kinds of horror, from ghost stories to creepy thrillers to disturbing psychological stuff. Whether you are into classic scares or weird twists, there is something here for you. These are the best horror movies on Netflix right now, updated for July 2025.

Scariest Horror Movies on Netflix Right Now

1. His House

Two people look out a window, one pulling back a curtain. The words "Netflix Official Trailer" are displayed. The mood is tense.

This one is not just horror but also has emotions. A refugee couple moves into a house that has ghosts. And it is not just jump scares, it has a deeper story too. I was not expecting it to be this good.

2. Talk to Me

A person looks fearful in a dimly lit room; text reads "TALK TO ME TRAILER." The background is blurred, creating a tense atmosphere.

A group of teens find a way to talk to spirits using a weird hand. Things go out of control real quick. It is fast and creepy. The kind of horror that sticks in your head.

3. Incantation

A person looks intently at the camera in a dark setting. Netflix logo, "Official Trailer" text, and a red symbol are visible. Mood is intense.

This one is from Taiwan and is super disturbing. It is shot like a documentary which makes it feel real. Do not watch alone if you get scared easily.

4. The Wailing

Eerie eyes loom over a dark landscape with a traditional gate. Blue tones dominate; an ominous red path leads through the gate.

It is long and slow in the beginning but then it just hits you. A small village, weird murders, and some dark stuff going on. Korean horror is on another level.

5. Apostle

A shadowy figure in a hat with branching, red-tipped lines behind them. The text "APOSTLE" and "NETFLIX" appear on a gray background.

More like folk horror. A guy goes to an island to find his sister, and what he finds is just madness. It has slow moments but the ending is wild.

Best Psychological Horror Movies

6. Gerald's Game

Woman in a white dress sits on a dark ornate chair, looking serious. Netflix logo and "Official Trailer" text on the left. Dark setting.

This is about a woman who gets stuck on a bed after a game with her husband goes wrong. Most of the movie is in one room, but it messes with your head.

7. Cam

Woman in striped tank top operates a camera in a dim room. Her reflection in the screen shows her in red with a different expression.

A cam girl finds her identity stolen by a copy of herself. It is like horror mixed with internet and identity stuff. Kind of strange but smart.

8. The Platform

Man eating hungrily in dim room, surrounded by food. Netflix logo and "Official Trailer" text overlay. Dark, intense atmosphere.

Not exactly ghosts or spirits, but it is horror in a different way. People stuck in a tower prison where food is given floor by floor. Creepy, gross, and makes you think.

9. Run Rabbit Run

Woman embraces child in a dimly lit room with fairy lights. Text reads "Run Rabbit Run" next to the Netflix logo. Mood is tense and protective.

Slow burn with a mother and her daughter. The kid starts acting strange and there is this past secret that haunts them. It is more disturbing than scary.

10. Re/Member

Three people holding flaming torches in a dimly lit classroom, wearing uniforms. The mood is tense. "Netflix Official Trailer" text.

A time loop horror from Japan. Students keep dying again and again while trying to solve a curse. The style is anime-like but live action. Pretty unique.

Hidden Horror Gems You Might Have Missed

11. The Ritual

Four men with backpacks stand in a dense, dimly lit forest with serious expressions. Netflix logo and "Official Trailer" text are visible.

Four friends go hiking in the forest and get lost. There is something old and evil watching them. I liked the forest vibe and creature design.

12. No One Gets Out Alive

A person with a distressed expression stands in dim lighting, face marked with red paint, wearing a textured brown shirt. Mood is tense.

A woman moves into a cheap boarding house and hears voices. Feels like a usual ghost story but the end gets wild. Creepy house horror.

13. The Perfection

A woman's face, partly obscured by a cello, has intense expression. Blood-like spots on face, warm yellow background, tense atmosphere.

Starts like a music drama then suddenly changes. Do not read too much before watching, just know it is weird and messed up.

14. Creep

Silhouetted figure stands at the top of dimly-lit stairs facing a wooden door. Warm light creates a mysterious, suspenseful mood.

A guy answers a job ad and goes to a house to film someone. The person turns out to be... let us say not normal. Very simple but effective.

15. The Old Ways

Elderly woman with braided hair and painted face, wearing a beaded necklace, stands in dimly lit rustic setting, conveying a solemn mood.

Mexican horror with a woman trapped by villagers who think she is possessed. It has rituals and demons and all. Nice change from usual ghost stuff.

Horror Movies Based on True Stories

16. Veronica

Nun in black habit with serious expression stands beside a young woman in a red jacket. Dim, mysterious setting with dramatic lighting.

Spanish horror inspired by a real case. A girl tries to contact her dead dad using a Ouija board. Things go wrong. Has some real scary moments.

17. The Conjuring 2

Girl in red shirt looks upward with a fearful expression. Dimly lit room with crosses on patterned wallpaper conveys a tense atmosphere.

Okay this is not a Netflix original but it is still on Netflix. Based on the Enfield poltergeist case. Classic ghost story with good acting.

18. The Watcher

Large house at night with lit windows, person visible inside. Silhouette in foreground. Text reads "The Watcher." Eerie mood.

More of a horror series, but still. A family moves into a house and someone starts sending them creepy letters. Based on true events.

Upcoming and New Horror on Netflix (2025)

19. The Deliverance

Four faces partially obscured by a white cross on a black background. Text: "THE LIVERANCE." Mysterious and intense mood.

Just released in July 2025. A story about an exorcism and a family hiding a dark past. It is trending now and for good reason.

20. The Deep Fear

Scuba diver flees from a giant shark in turbulent ocean waves. Red text reads "DEEP FEAR." The scene is intense and dramatic.

A brand new horror thriller added this month. About deep sea creatures and isolation. Not many have seen it yet but worth a try.

21. Screams in the Fog

Two people stand in eerie blue fog holding flashlights, silhouettes in the distance. A dark face emerges from the mist, creating suspense.

Low budget but creative. A fog traps people in a town and something starts hunting them. Simple story but works.

22. Beyond the Wall

Two people in a dimly lit room, one playing guitar. Neon lights and text: Netflix, Beyond the Wall, Gabe Watkins, set a moody ambiance.

Another new one with mystery and horror. A girl trapped in a haunted mental asylum. Gets scary slowly but builds up well.

Other Fan Favourite Horror Picks

23. Bird Box

A woman with a blindfold rows a boat with two children. The scene is foggy, creating a tense, mysterious atmosphere.

People cannot open their eyes or they die. Big cast, big idea. Still one of Netflix’s most watched horror films.

24. It Follows

Woman in distress, tied to a chair in a dim, abandoned space. Man in the background holds a flashlight. Mood is tense and fearful.

A horror curse that follows people slowly but always. Sounds silly, but it is actually very good.

25. Fear Street Trilogy

A film poster with "A Film Trilogy Event" and "Fear Street" in red text. Background features dark blue hues and a large bloody axe.

Three connected horror stories set in different times. Like 90s slasher, 70s killer, and old witch curse. Fun and fast.

Final Thoughts

So these are some of the best horror movies on Netflix right now. Some are scary, some are strange, and some are just cool to watch. Horror means different things for different people. I like the ones that stay in my head after watching. Hope you find something from this list. If I missed any good one, tell me. Always looking for more to watch.
