Amazon MX Player just dropped “Bhay” and honestly it is unsettling. Based on the real life of ghost hunter Gaurav Tiwari, the show stars Karan Tacker and Kalki Koechlin investigating his mysterious death. It blurs the line between facts and spooky fiction perfectly. If you need a new binge watch this is definitely the one.

The Ghost Hunter We Didn't Know We Needed!
INDIA - You know how sometimes you’re scrolling through streaming apps, just looking for something that isn’t the same old romcom or crime drama? Well I think I found it. Amazon MX Player just dropped their new show ‘Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery’ and honestly, it’s kind of been living rent free in my head since it was released. It released on December 12, so it is still pretty fresh. If you haven’t heard the buzz yet, you probably will soon because people are actually talking about this one.
Not Your Typical Horror Story
So here is the thing. We have all seen a million horror shows where doors slam and ghosts jump out of cupboards. But Bhay feels different. It is based on the life of Gaurav Tiwari, who was a real person, India's most famous paranormal investigator. He founded the Indian Paranormal Society (IPS) and basically dedicated his life to chasing ghosts until he died under really mysterious circumstances in 2016.
The show isn't just trying to scare you for no reason. It mixes this biopic style with a thriller vibe that works really well. Karan Tacker plays Gaurav and he is honestly so good. You can see the stress in his eyes, the obsession. It makes you wonder what it’s actually like to do a job that everyone else thinks is crazy.
The Skeptic vs The Believer
Then you have Kalki Koechlin, who is always amazing let’s be real. She plays this skeptical author who wants to debunk everything Gaurav stood for. But as she digs into his past and his death, things get... weird. The dynamic between the believer and the skeptic is the best part. It forces you to pick a side. Are ghosts real? Or is it all in our heads? The show doesn't force an answer down your throat, it just lays out the files and lets you freak yourself out.
Why You Should Watch It?
Robbie Grewal directed it and he kept things very grounded. The sets look like real Delhi homes, not spooky movie sets. It makes the scary parts hit harder because it feels like it could happen in your own house. There’s a few moments where the pacing feels a bit slow maybe, but it picks up fast.
By the time you get to the later episodes, you are just clicking 'Next Episode' without thinking. Plus it is free on Amazon MX Player so you literally have nothing to lose except maybe your sleep.
If you are into mysteries or just want to know more about the guy who made ghost hunting a legitimate career in India, give this a shot. Just maybe keep the lights on for the first episode.
